Kevin Jordan is the first comedian featured on our INTERVIEW show that used to be a cop! Jordan was born and raised in Queens, New York. After he graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in communications, he moved to Los Angeles where he became a policeman. Kevin made the joke, “I found out I was allergic to doughnuts,” when describing his decision to leave the force after 5-years.
After leaving the badge behind, Kevin began headlining at comedy clubs and corporate events across the nation. He’s performed in all 50 states and has done over 100 USO shows for every branch of the military.
Jordan’s humor typically focuses on his days as a police officer, his family and his everyday view on life itself. He’s performed on THE TODAY SHOW, VH1, MTV and Comedy Central. He’s also been the opening act for celebrated performers like Gladys Knight, UB40 and more.

Carl Labove has been at this whole stand-up comedy deal for over 30-years and was a founding member of “The Outlaws of Comedy”. Born in Texas, LaBove didn’t get into comedy until he turned 19. He met a man named Sam Kinison, who would then become his best friend. The 2 founded a Rock and Roll Comedy show that, for 5 straight years, stayed in the Top-4 of Billboard Magazine selling out theaters night after night.
In the late 80′s and early 90′s while touring with “The Outlaws”, he established himself right at the time of the biggest comedy boom of the last 50-years and has been selling out performances ever since.
Carl has appeared numerous times on television including, THE TONIGHT SHOW, HBO, Showtime and on a concert DVD for Journey Records. And he currently has 2 comedy albums available on CD.

Andrew Norelli is an accomplished comedian and writer. He’s performed at major clubs in New York, Boston and, you guessed it, right here in Las Vegas! Once, while in Boston, he placed second at the Boston Comedy Festival. He’s performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival as well. And Norelli has appeared on TV shows like JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON and COMICS UNLEASHED, where he was also a staff writer. His comedy is for people who like comedy. Debi Gutierrez has become quite the expert on life and relationships. It was during a dinner one night that she realized her marriage wasn’t what it used to be. From that moment on she decided to rebuild the bond she’d lost with her husband and along the way, she learned enough stuff to start a 45-minute comedy show about relationships.
Originally, Gutierrez was a high school teacher, which could explain her amazing ability to connect with the audience and pass on her knowledge of marriage. Her unique style doesn’t alienate men and it speaks to couples of all ages.
In the 17-years Debi’s been doing this, she’s performed all over the world and makes regular appearances at some of the country’s top comedy clubs. She’s even been dubbed, “The Mommycomic.”
Besides comedy, Debi has dabbled as an actress and TV host. You may remember seeing her in an eBay commercial dancing through a freeway traffic jam. She starred in a pilot sitcom called BLISS as well. Gutierrez hosted, HIDDEN AGENDA, a series on the Gameshow Network where couples tried to convince their partners to complete a series of challenges for money without divulging they’re on a gameshow. She also just completed her 5th season as the host of KCET-TV’s Emmy-winning parenting show, A PLACE OF OUR OWN.

Charlie takes a little trip to Somerville this week. Michael Somerville, is a comedian, writer and host. Not bad for a guy who tried stand up simply because he was dared to get on stage. That would seem to be the end of it. But after moving to New York for an advertising job, and getting tired of shaving everyday, Michael decided to give performing another go.
You’ve probably seen Michael on TV or perhaps read something he’s written. He’s currently the writer and host of, WINGMAN, a series on the Fine Living Network. He also hosted Nick at Nite’s ROAD CREW and the Encore network’s, WHAT GUYS WANT. He’s also appeared on Comedy Central, VH1, Bravo and NBC. Aside from television, Michael Somerville also has a column in Glamour magazine called, “Jake: A Man’s Opinion.”
Somewhere in all of this, Somerville found time to release a comedy CD titled, WELCOME TO SOMERVILLE and is currently working on LOVE, SOMERVILLE, a web series with over a million views so far. A self-proclaimed ambassador of ‘Girls Night Out,’ and… black woman… Jackie Fabulous is a female of faculty. She’s a comedian, actress, writer and producer. Originally from the East coast, where she earned a bachelors degree at The City University of New York, Jackie now resides in California.
When she moved there she obtained a law degree. After working in the legal field for a while, she discovered she was better at making people laugh. That’s when she decided to persue being an entertainer.
Jackie has made several television appearances. She’s even developing her own talk show. She writes and producers all of her comedy shows, which she performs all around the country. Her style of comedy speaks to all races, genders and economic classes of people. She draws on observation and personal experiences for her brand of humor and that seems to connect well with audiences.
Besides performing for other non-profits, Miss Fabulous is currently building her own organization that will teach teenagers to write comedy.

Bobby Miyamoto is the guest of honor on this edition of the Who Asked You? Interview. At one point the table turns a bit and Bobby even asks Charlie a few questions.
Bobby grew up in Boise, Idaho. He attended college at Arizona State University where he says he partied an awful lot and developed his quirky sense of humor he now utilizes on stage. He’s been a comic for over 10 years now. Before doing stand-up he practiced joke writing by writing jokes for radio.
He’s appeared on a number of television shows including CBS’s THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON, Animal Planet’s THE A-LIST and COMICS UNLEASHED. Bobby also appeared on Comedy Central and TBS.

Tommy Savitt chats with The Cheese this week. He’s an award-winning comedian, performance artist and actor. And here we are… Mark has been doing hypnosis for 40 years! He became interested in it at the young age of 17 while working with a magician who, after his shows, would hypnotize people backstage. Mark knew he could do it too, so with a few successful practice runs on his lil’ sis, his work in the mystical world of hypnosis was no longer just a dream.
Mark is now a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. He uses his skills to help others rid themselves of physical ailments and bad habits. He says it never ceases to amaze and surprise him what the power of the mind is capable of doing.
Mark has been seen on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD, THE TODAY SHOW and CNN. He was also once featured in THE NEW YORK TIMES. Mark has warmed up a few sitcom audiences as well, using his talents on crowds from shows like ACCORDING TO JIM, REBA and TWO AND A HALF MEN.

Today’s Interview is a two-fer… so it’s actually Interviews. Charlie meets up with Brett Walkow and Mike Marino. Both are in the room while the other is getting interviewed. You can even hear Brett chuckling in the background while Mike talked to Charlie.
Brett has been doing this whole comedy thing for over 15-years. Just reading Brett’s bio on his website, you can see he’s done a ton of TV and film work too. He’s appeared on THE TONIGHT SHOW, SEINFELD, the E! network and HBO just to name a few. Brett co-wrote, produced and co-starred in a short film called FIGHT NIGHT, which was shown at Sony’s Tropfest and the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival for which Brett hosted that year. Charlie talked to him while he was performing here in Las Vegas, but Brett also appeared on the NBC series LAS VEGAS where he was written into 2 different episodes.
Currently Brett is touring and doing stand-up. You can also see him in the YouTube web series, A GUY WALKS INTO A BAR.
The second conversation goes to Mike Marino, New Jersey’s Bad Boy Of Comedy. As you might have guessed, Mike was born in New Jersey. He got his show-biz start in theater. The TV bug soon bit Mike and as of today, he’s appeared in over 200 national commercials. He recently got a Clio Award nomination for “Best Actor” as well.
Besides commercials, Mike has acted in several TV shows like, AS THE WORLD TURNS, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, FRASIER, BECKER and more.
Mike often uses his family roots in his comedy material. In fact, those jokes spawned a TV pilot called MARINO’S. Like Brett, Mike appeared on THE TONIGHT SHOW and many other comedy programs including COMICS UNLEASHED, THE BOOMER SHOW and WILD PITCH. And in the Fall of 2008 Mike was inducted into the New Jersey Comedy Hall of Fame. He’s currently a top headliner at both the world famous Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store in Hollywood.

A man simply known as Bowers is Charlie’s guest this week on Interview. By trade, Bowers is a motivational speaker to middle and high school students. But about 3 years ago he started doing stand-up comedy. Bowers discovered that he was quite good and breaking things down and analyzing situations for his friends. They always seemed to get a kick out of it, so he decided to start writing it all down for material.
He won both the Midwest Ultimate Funny Championship and the Louisville Fight of the Laughing Skull Festival. If you’re ever in Indianapolis you can find Bowers as a regular at Morty’s Comedy Joint. There, he hosts his weekly comedy show, Bowers and Friends as well as the Great Indiana Mic-Off.

For those living under a rock or outside of our space time continuum, you may not know this, but the latest Marvel-movie hits theaters this Friday. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, a Joe Johnston film starring Chris Evans will likely be the first in a series of blockbusters detailing the various Avenger team members. Diehard comic fans probably know this, but for those who don’t, there was a CAPTAIN AMERICA movie made back in 1990. It starred Matt Salinger as Steve Rogers — the man who would become Captain America.
That movie was directed by Albert Pyun, a really friendly guy who’s our guest on today’s Interview. Albert has made over 40 films in his career and at the time of our interview, had just finished another. We talked with him by phone as he drove to LA to deliver the final cut of his latest work, TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE starring Kevin Sorbo, Christopher Lambert and Melissa Ordway. Albert lives in Las Vegas, as he tells us in our discussion, he chose Vegas because he wanted to live near LA without actually living in LA.
It’s clear Albert is passionate about filmmaking, explaining why in fact, he prefers to be called a “filmmaker” as apposed to a “director.” He tells us about how he got started in the production business making commercials in Hawaii. He traveled to Japan to do more film work which eventually led him to making movies full time. He’s worked with a number of notable actors including Jean-Claude Van Damme in CYBORG and Rutger Hauer in OMEGA DOOM just to name a couple.
Although his resume is filled with action flicks, surprisingly, that’s not his preferred genre. He says he doesn’t really have one. Adding it’s the characters and the complexity of a story that attracts him to a script.
The CAPTAIN AMERICA movie is probably one of the films Albert is most known for. He’s taken some flack for its… lets say… “low budget” feel. As he explains, there were budget issues and among other things, he expected some ridicule when it came to the small details like the costume. He also says the studio recut the film, so what many saw wasn’t actually his vision for it. Las Vegas was included in a special screening of a never-before-seen director’s cut of the movie in anticipation for the new one. That’s where Charlie met Albert and invited him to come on the show. And Pyun notes, you see far more of the Steve Rogers character than you do Captain America in his original version because that’s what attracted him to making the film in the first place.
We cover a lot of interesting topics and tidbits about Albert’s work, directing and the film industry itself. Albert is quite honest with us on his views of the mentality of big studios these days. And it’s very similar to ours. I even squeeze in a few minutes of shop talk. Spoiler… Albert PREFERS digital over film because it makes it possible for lower budget movie makers like himself to create higher quality products cheaper and faster. Something else we agree on.

Mike Ivy is an Internet enigma… no website, no Facebook or MySpace, he’s not on Twitter and images of him are hard to come by. The one at the left is the only known picture of Mike there seems to be on the Internet. He was a regular on THE SARAH SILVERMAN SHOW. He’s also appeared on television shows like LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN, SHOWTIME AT THE APPOLLO and IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA.
Mike’s been in a few movies as well. Despite not having his own web presence… he is listed on IMDb. His film credits include low-budget flicks like THE WATERMELON, FEATHERWEIGHT and most recently, a small part in a movie called FRED & VINNIE.
It’s clear during this conversation with Charlie, Mike has been in the comedy biz for quite some time, 30-years to be more precise. Little of that free, I might add. As he explains, most of his off-stage time is spent waiting for people to do something stupid so he can talk about it later, on-stage. Mr. Cheese once again finds himself in the hotel room of yet another comic genius… this time it’s the quarters of Tim Wilkins, someone who has been performing for over 20-years. Tim spent his younger years sneaking into comedy clubs and watching some of the greats in the field. Eventually his career led him to headline at many of the types of clubs he so covertly entered as a youth.
Tim isn’t just a comedian, he’s also a successful TV personality. In the past, he’s appeared on many of the networks we all watch today, ABC, NBC, CBS and ESPN 2 just name a few. After doing an international comedy tour to entertain our troopes, Mr. Wilkins returned to the US and co-hosted an award-winning morning talk show at the CBS affiliate in Tampa, Florida. He kept up with his comedy act though. In 2008, Wilkins released a comedy album that was even considered for a Grammy Award!
Now he’s podcasting with Charlie “The Cheese”. The two discuss Tim’s early days of doing open mics, working the corporate comedy circle and writing “fitness comedy”. You can’t tell from his picture at the left or this audio recording… but Tim is in pretty good shape. He exercises, eats right and his hotel rooms often resemble GNC stores.
